Description
It's called Val di Tana and is a Roero Arneis DOCG, offered here by the beautiful Piedmontese winery Fontanafredda. Made with 100% Arneis grapes, this white wine is typical of the Roero hills, an area otherwise known for the quality of its red wines. Vinified very gently in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, this white wine ages, also in stainless steel, in contact with its fine lees, until the spring following the harvest. At that point, the wine is bottled and, after a couple of months, it is ready to drink. In the glass, it displays a beautiful, intense straw yellow color with greenish highlights. On the nose, it reveals a rich and satisfying bouquet reminiscent of exotic fruits, ripe pear, hawthorn blossoms, and acacia honey. On the palate, it is pleasantly enveloping. Delicately smooth, it has a natural acidity that makes it fresh and savory. Fantastic as an aperitif, at the table it is perfect with fish appetizers, light first courses, and risottos.
