Fiano Irpinia DOC 2020 Vigna Rotole - Di Prisco

“Vigna Rotole” is a wine produced from Fiano di Avellino grapes grown in estate-owned vineyards in the Rotole district, from which it takes its name and where the winery is located. It was created after extensive vineyard experimentation on this parcel and serves as a precursor to the company's entire history. In fact, where the Fiano vineyard is now located, in the early 1980s there was Trebbiano, which at the time was not vinified on the estate but delivered. In the early 1990s, Pasqualino decided to change his main activity—cattle breeding—and begin producing bottled wines. The Trebbiano vineyard was grafted with Fiano di Avellino. The results were well received, and a few years later the vineyard was uprooted and replaced entirely with Fiano di Avellino. In 2014, after twenty years, the Fiano cru, “Vigna Rotole,” was born. For this selection, the yield per hectare is around 60 quintals. The soil is sandy and volcanic, making it dry, and the exposure faces southeast. We're located at about 450 meters above sea level here, and although it's outside the DOCG zone, Fiano doesn't lose its distinctive character. Indeed, it produces very balanced grapes with delicate yet intense aromas reminiscent of hay, yellow flowers, and mint.
