Description
Aglianico is a difficult grape variety to interpret, with a thorny nature that can prove challenging in the first few years after harvest. Among the various nuances of Aglianico is Campi Taurasini, a chameleon-like wine, a red with a short history that has attracted the attention of curious wine lovers and enthusiasts in recent years. It seems to lack a clear identity; it lets itself be guided, and each wine tells its own story of how and why it's made. Campi Taurasini could be positioned somewhere between a simple Aglianico and a more complex Taurasi, a wine that bridges the gap between the two, a wine suited to those who enjoy the idea of aging but at the same time can't wait. Essentially, Campi Taurasini is nothing more than a small Taurasi. Between harvest and the start of the aging process in wooden barrels, decisions are made as to which grapes are best suited to producing Taurasi, which will then continue their journey in wood, while the rest is destined for Campi Taurasini. Di Prisco produces it exclusively with Aglianico grapes on its own land located in the Rotole district of Fontanarosa, at an altitude of 450 meters with a south-east exposure.
